2018 Reception to be Thursday, May 24th
Senior High students in the Cooperstown Central School and graduating in June 2018 are invited to apply for the Leadership Scholarship offered by Cooperstown resident Rich McCaffery. Deadline for applications is April 15, 2018 and are available by contacting the Cooperstown High School Guidance Office at 547-5300 or Rich McCaffery at 547-5256 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. The scholarship is for $1,000.00.

This sixth annual scholarship, founded by Rich McCaffery, is offered to students enrolling in a course of study to include Volunteerism, Community Development/Organizational Leadership, Hospitality/Tourism or related curriculum, either with a private enterprise, not-for-profit organization or government entity. The course of study must begin with the semester following graduation, often referred to as the Fall semester.
Please note that while past and present community service is vital and recognized, this scholarship is focused on a student’s course of study after high school.
Donations in support of this scholarship are being recruited from community businesses, organizations and individuals. All donations are maintained in a designated scholarship fund for this sole purpose. Your contribution may be sent to Rich McCaffery, P.O.Box 483, Cooperstown, NY 13326 and checks payable to Cooperstown Leadership Scholarship. All contributions will be acknowledged in the program and announced at the Scholarship Reception on Thursday May 24th, hosted by The Otesaga Resort Hotel.
The community is invited to attend the reception and congratulate our newest scholarship recipient and meet previous recipients. Businesses are highly encouraged to send front line staff for the keynote presentation beneficial to all those in community hospitality.

Donations to this fund will also be accepted on the day of the event. All sponsors and their staff of the scholarship are invited at no fee.

COOPERSTOWN LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT SELECTED
The recipient of the 7th Annual Cooperstown Leadership Scholarship is Cooperstown Central School senior Kristen Lansing . She was selected for meeting the scholarship criteria of pursuing a career in Volunteerism, Community Development/Organizational Leadership or Hospitality /Tourism either with a private enterprise, not-for-profit organization or government entity. Kristen will seek a career involving the hospitality industry and attending the Culinary Institute of America involving a course of study in Baking and Pastries.
Kristen states that after completing the two year degree at the Culinary Institute, of America I plan to travel to Europe to study the various cultures and learn different baking techniques. My ultimate goal to to own and manage my own bakery utilizing the knowledge learned.
Kristen will be recognized on Thursday, May 25, 4:30 – 6 PM at a reception hosted by the Otesaga Resort Hotel. The public, along with the sponsors, are invited and encouraged to attend and congratulate Kristen. Each year, McCaffery states, we attempt to include an entertaining and educational presenter, on a specific topic, to compliment the purpose of the scholarship. It’s with much enthusiasm we share with you that Sarah Dewey, the first recipient of this scholarship in 2011, will be our keynote presenter. She resides in Nashville TN and is the Territory Sales Manager at Toast, Inc., an all in one cloud based restaurant technology solution headquartered in Boston, MA. . Sheis tasked with building the new Nashville territory from the ground up. In 2016, Toast won Hottest Startup at the NEVY awards and was named a ‘Rising Star’ in Forbes top cloud companies list.
Sarah’s presentation will focus on how to plan for your future, how leadership is an attitude, not a title, and the importance of community involvement.
